That's because you don't do so; it is a feature of the OS and is

So you mean, that all other apps on my machine using an another os,
than my RB built app on the same machine?
Of course not; I think you need to read more carefully. If your
apps are behaving differently from any other app on your machine, I
suspect it's because you have failed to give your default file name
an extension, or have given it one when you didn't want to -- as
pointed out by my original message above.
But every time I try to help you, you simply argue with me, often
in a sarcastic manner.
I feel the same, every time it is depending on OS, or you don't do
so, or that is not Mac...
(if it not possible in RB)
Here is an example:
<example>
Many apps have a pull down menu so you can specify the type of files
you want to see in the Open Dialog, so how would you do this in Rb?
That's not the case on the Mac (at least, in my experience), and on
the Mac, no such pop-up menu appears in Open dialogs. (Not to be
confused with Save As dialogs, where such menus are fairly common
and are well suppported in RB.)
</example>
What do you think this give me for feelings?
Ho care, we don't care about Mac users, we sell to Windows users.
And it also feels like you are trying to defence that RB lacks some
features, 'I try with this, nobody is checking it, they trust me what
i write....'
I have always respect what you have said and written here on NUG,
until I understand what going on.
I think it's time for me to stop trying. Good luck to you.
If i do the same in other apps, with the same file, then in some,
that I counted up, have NO 'Checkbox' !
So it is not depending on the file, i tested with an existed file and
then 'Save As' ...
Good Luck to you too.
