I tend to think the opposite. If someone came to me with a MySQL
solution I'd be happy to just stack it onto our existing MySQL server.
Depends on how invasive the installer is.
I had MySQL 4.0 installed on my PowerBook so that I could do self-
contained PHP web development (localhost). Then I installed Adobe
Creative Suite 2 (CS2) with the "Version Cue" which totally destroyed
my existing MySQL installation and data. I was not happy, and
chances are I will need to wipe the entire computer and reinstall
everything in order to get the computer back to the way it was.
