What do you mean "handle"
First, anything above 127 is not ASCII
But if you put g.drawString chr(195), x, y
and run it on Windows, you will get something( it looks to me like a capital A with a curled line above it) in the Win Sys Font. Just not a check mark. You would probably need to use another font which contains the check mark symbol
