Good point. However...
The client would need to set up VNC on their Mac 'Server' (no big
deal here), would then have to access their router and open the
correct ports for VNC. Additionally they have to 'have' a static IP,
which costs more per month. In other words it goes beyond a drag and
drop install.
The only static IP addess required is for your site.
You set a machine at your site to field requests.
hmmm, The *client* must have a static ip - otherwise, when the cable
company re-assigns ip's/subnets (which happens from time to time) you
would no longer be able to VPN into their site - you would have to
call them so they can see what their new IP is. (been there, done that)
I regularly support both Mac and PC clients, who do have dynamic ips
and no idea of what port forwarding, or a router is.
You set up a machine to be in VNC listen mode.
Hmm, if they have a standard Cable-Modem, it:
1) Has a dynamic IP address
2) Only gives out 1 IP, for a single connection
Yes, you can pay to upgrade it so it hands out more IP's/has a static
IP.
Most people we deal with just plug in a router on the LAN side of the
cable modem.
Either way you have to open Port 5900 so you can VPN - is there
another way do to it without opening the port?

Postgressql is a great database - nothing wrong with it at all. The
REALSQLServer made more sense for our situation, point and click
install, no command line, direct support from the same company that
makes our chosen development environment.
Case and point: Go to the home of the postgres database.
http://www.postgresql.org
Find a Mac installer. Hmmm.
Find Mac GUI client tools. Hmmm.
Ok, well go to the top of the page and do a search for Macintosh. Hmmmm.
Ok, check out some of the 3rd party Macintosh Installers:
http://www.entropy.ch/software/macosx/postgresql/
http://developer.apple.com/internet/opensource/postgres.html
http://www.macdevcenter.com/pub/a/mac/2002/06/07/postgresql.html
Doing a search on versiontracker reveals a few more. Check them out.
Now install and setup the REALSQLServer.
