Ahh, the "runtime-dll-hell" factor...

Yes, but one very obvious benefit just showed itself... You're much less likely to run into compatibility problems with your RB app than with one that was written in any of the M$ development languages, when the OS is upgraded. There's a whole bunch of big name applications that don't run on Vista (one such encounter I had was with Nero), but my (RB) apps run without a single problem.

* No desparate customers
"... I NEED your app to work on Vista build xxxx, Right Now!"

* No disappointed customers
"We hope to support app XYZ on Vista as soon as possible, once Microsoft releases the final version"

It just works. Chapeau, RS!
