Ahh, the "runtime-dll-hell" factor...

On Windows we're not so lucky.

Just tried again, without any plugins. Create new project, gui application, immediately build it. Resulting My Application.exe is 3,146,769 bytes.

That's actually a not such a bad idea, even on windows. I'm currently testing my projects on Windos Vista (rc1), and I'm finding lots of free and commercial installers no longer working. This is especially so on the x64 version. RB, and the applications I develop with RB, however, perform without any problems whatsoever.

If only Rb wouldn't create such rediculously large binaries (smallest is 3MB), but I guess that's the flip-side of having no runtime-dll-hell to worry about.

3MB? I have many useful Macintosh RB based utilities (with multiple windows and many controls, lists, etc) under 3MB, one at only 916KB. I do use a lot of small methods to avoid redundant code and no plug ins. My largest is 2.6MB.

Never thought I'd claim to having the smallest.... :-)
