On Windows we're not so lucky.
Just tried again, without any plugins. Create new project, gui
application, immediately build it. Resulting My Application.exe is
3,146,769 bytes.
For those who need to create their own Windows installer in RB, there
are some ways to get around the compiled size. I've created Windows
installers in RB to handle complex tasks that are not handled by most
installer programs (without the use of a scripting language).
When my installer is finished, I create a zip file, which reduces the
size greatly. Then I use a utility like Zip2Secrue.exe (free from
chillkat software) to create a self extracting executable, which
executes my installer upon extraction.
If you give this a try, I think you will find the size of your installer
dramatically reduced.
