 Thanks, that helps! On meshes that contain sub-meshes do you know of a 
quick
way to know (in RexViewer) where sub-meshes can be visually
identified (perhaps even selected)? The only thing I can select seems to 
be the
overall mesh...? On the texture coordinates for
the sphere, I will read up on this and figure out how to apply this in 
Blender.
