To answer to first question: yes. RealXtend viewer has its own voice module.
This module connects to realXtend server (or ModreX enabled OpenSim) and sends
all data to other realXtend clients through it. This voice module uses Speex
codec over TCP instead of p2p. This scales quite good to at least ten people in
same area.

The voice is supported, but the client doesn't show if the avatar is speaking
or not.

Subject: [realXtend] Re: facial animation

We have one (possibly 2) student knowledgeable in OGRE and we'd like to
coordinate
with your facial animation work starting in May - so as not to duplicate
efforts. Our
interest is in seeing if we can use the RealXtend viewer for interacting
with our
cultural island, which is currently in Second Life but will be ported to
OpenSim.

Related questions for you and the realxtend group:

 1) Is voice supported? Jani mentioned this in a Cyber post, I think,
but when I
press on the voice button in the RealXtend client, it doesn't show
my avatar
     as "speaking".

 2) Are there good solutions for Text-to-Speech (TTS) and speech recognition
in the open source domain? One of our research groups here uses Dragon
Naturally Speaking for the latter through the commercial SDK.

Thanks.
