Hello,

Well, I stumbled across another problem....

I just did a scratch/fresh install of RHLinux 5.2 to
a 486/66 computer which I run as a mail server,
and a backup server.

I then found XBRU2000 on either the Apps or
the PowerTools CD-ROM and installed that.
I have Samba working to the point where the
RHL5.2 box can mount directories of my RHL6.0
box and a Windoze 95 box. You guessed it,
I use Samba. RHL5.2 has samba-1.9.18p10-3
and RHL6.0 has samba-2.0.3-8.

ANYWAY, when you a XBRU2000 backup it first
checks though all the file systems (and I have it set
so it includes mounted file systems like samba ones)
then runs through backing them up. At some point
during backup, I notice that my /mnt/rhl60/
mount on the RHL5.2 box suddenly no longer sees
any files where it most definately did just before I
ran XBRU2000. I have to stop xbru, stop and re-start
samba, and last time, had to shut down and reboot
because it kept saying that the /mnt/rhl60/ device
was busy. Reboot, and start samba, and all
well again... until you try another backup with XBRU2000.

Any ideas on what is causing this??? Samba issue?
XBRU issue? If I know the samba 2.0.3-8 would run
on rhl5.2 I'd upgrade it and see what happens.

Any ideas, anyone?
Thanks,
  -Jon

PS: Last but not least, I still have a problem getting my Windoze95 box
to connect to the RHL5.2 SAMBA setup. The Windozer side says
it needs a password for device IPC$. Note that that
older version
of samba uses security=user while the newer RHL6.0 version
of
samba uses security=share (and share is not implemented in
the
older vs. far as I can tell). Anyone know how to
fix?????????
