Oh... didn't know that. Don't know much about Samba yet. Thank you for that 
note. What does WINS use as its name information source?

All Windows boxen come with DHCP assignment configured by default, and I've 
found that most people with Ethernet cards that come into my house have the 
same. For the rest, I just tell 'em "write down your settings, set 
everything to automatic, then put your stuff back when you leave."
