> Going to use about 50 or so lbs. of Fiji
live sand for the substrate.
50 lbs of sand will be a dusting in a 500G tank.Try
ESV Oolitic sand it's about 50lbs for $20. I added 2 of those plus 100lbs of
live sand to my 120G.But I put the ESV in by itself for 2 weeks then added the
live sand then the LR. So your procedure will have to be different.Down in my
refugium I have 50lbs of Fiji sand. Pretty interesting
stuff but although they claim it's live it is
rinsed and I found no life with a jewelers loupe(magnifying glass). But it now
houses a wide variety of critters but some I added.I also added all the
rubble from 400lbs of LR whick I think most of the life came
from.
