Title: RE: need help
I like both ideas, especially the macroalgae one, it can suck up alot of nutrients and nitrates and phosphates, just light it on an opposite schedule from the main tank to keep the ph up. Example maintank on for 12 hours during the day, sump lights on for 12 hours at night. You may also consider another 25 pounds of LR.

Put a bunch of macro algae in the sump with a light.
It feeds off ammonia.
Try getting a little sand or substrate from as
many healthy tanks as you can and add it
to yours as a seed.
