Also make sure to clear your cache, and as far as mime-types, take a look at the http://html5boilerplate.com template and copy their .htaccess or whichever server config file is appropriate for your setup. they've already established the appropriate mime-types for all sorts of files and the appropriate caching periods as well.

In your windows environment, do you have cleartype enabled? I know it was disabled by default in Win7, which can make web fonts rather ugly on render.
