Having a time window during which the first DTMF digit must be received is a clever idea
I think so too, especially since the 7K's had it for years... :-)
ACC controllers also had a timer named the From-Start-Of-Transmission Timer, but it had the OPPOSITE effect. The user had to key his transmitter for a number of seconds *before* he was permitted to enter a DTMF command. The idea was to keep hackers on the air longer so they could be DF'ed.
