Dual fusing is my opinion as well.  Grounding  negative lead at the battery (or
near it) is my preferred way.  Chassis ground as the primary is sometimes
difficult in today's all plastic cars.  I've done it both ways, never blown a
negative lead fuse, but still prefer dual fusing.  Any arguments about blown
negative lead fuses apply equally to a bad/poorly connected chassis ground.
