I just bought a Z-Matcher from EMR and installed it on my repeater. It
didn't improve the situation over my 61" lead between transmitter and
duplexer but I was able to match random lengths of coax to the same
performance. So it works!

The cost of this little box was well under $100 including shipping to
Canada. I wouldn't build one myself unless I had the parts kicking around
or had some special enclosure/connector requirements. It's one of those
things where the parts really are a significant chunk of the cost of the
item.
