I still stand by my original suggestion of simply wrapping the single
problematic `removeShutdownHook()` call in a `try` block:
https://github.com/apache/spark/pull/4627#issuecomment-74613715. Best to keep
things simple for now and avoid introducing new bugs while trying to fix this
one.
