By validator I just mean an optional function that could be used to
validate the config value. ie my Integer config for time range has to be >
0.. Or this config must be set to non-empty string. Again just throwing it
out.
If splitting them apart makes the code harder thats fine, just thought it
would be a way to get rid of the .optional stuff without tying it to the type
definition.
