Of course it is Freud, but why are you shocked that he used cocaine? Many did. It was not illegal in most places at that time. Coca cola was made with it also. Cocaine should be legal today. So should morphine, hydrocodone, vicodone and pot.
As for cocaine, it is a drug which is very beneficial and that is why it has been criminalized. It is one of the prejudices of this society to have you believe that drugs are bad and people are not worthy of any quality of life, that the highest virtue is working, etc. I could go on, but why bother.
