Let's not forget that it was the Christians, Isabel and Ferdinand, who in 1942 drove both the Muslims and Christians out of Spain. The various pogroms since then have been committed by Christians -- need I spell out the details. The tensions with Jews in Muslim countries erupted when Israel moved into territory that had been mainly Muslim and Christian to create a Jewish state. I am entirely sympathetic with that effort, as I was horrified by the Holocaust -- Christian inspired, not Muslim -- as a child. However, we are living in the present and brutal tit for tat is a losing operation for all involved in it. It is primitive and betrays at the the various least the Zionist ideal. And it looks as though Israel is in decline with its right wing leadership not only using killing as its simplistic tool, but also facing indictment for corruption and exploitation of the economic split there between poverty and wealth comparable to that in the U.S. How very sad for Israel and for the U.S. I mention the history because people who are the victims of it tend to remember it. Those who inflict such evils justify or excuse them. Both sides in Israel/Palestine are playing fatal games. Ed Kent
P.S. Jericho most likely was nationalistic boasting and did not happen so far as the evidence indicates. But it is characteristic of an attitude of hatred that is to be belied. It is now called ethnic cleansing.

Uh, the only thing you can say about the string of Muslim invective against the Jews is that the Christians are as bad or worse? Wholly inadequate. Of course any and all religion can spawn criminals like Sheikh Atiyyah Saqr, but the fact is that Muslims are taking his pronouncements and using them _today_ as reason to kill Jews, and not specifically Jewish military personnel, but ALL Jews. This is eerily similar in content to Nazi propaganda, although from a religious standpoint. (The fact is much of Nazi propaganda was derived from religious propaganda, mostly Christian.) Also, to compare biblical stories of thousands of years ago with the Muslim religious anti-Semitic crap of today, when the means are there to learn about and refute such diatribes, but are NOT for the most part by other more educated Muslims (and Arabs), is also inadequate. One might expect more on these fora.
