Very interesting Jon. As you know, I have had a long collaboration with
some-one working in just that area eg.
http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S1097276502006032
X-ray crystallography is still needed to fill in the details, but according
to your reference that may no longer be necessary.

Doubtless others will respond with what is new and exciting with neutrons

With the greatest respect, It is not always the new and exciting techniques
that produce the best science. Certainly using imaging methods for powder
diffraction is promising, but it would be brave to propose already that it
will have an impact comparable to that of the Rietveld method. I hear what
you say, and what has been achieved so far is quite good, but I would
suggest that we wait a little before drawing conclusions.

I almost agree, but perhaps we should consider other options. A publication
by definition is open to public examination - I would not go so far as to
call that "abuse". If the author is confident of his results he will feel
no shame in defending them. Others may advance alternative interpretations,
and hopefully the best ideas will survive. I am not sure that without such
debate we can even know what is worth reading.

You are completely wright, and the fact that Armel himself writes most of
those, is particularly remarkable.

Kind regards, Alan.
