Thank you all for the advise. I have been a Mac user for 20 years and I guess, for better or worse, I am commited to the platform. I know that doesn't mean I have to use ALAC but the balance of going with FLAC or using iTunes does swing in Apple's favor for me right now. I hope that I still feel that way in a few years!
