I am waiting for my Transporter to arrive and wish to prepare my music
library by ripping my CDs. I have already ripped 30 CDs into my iTunes
library using Apple lossless format for my iPod, so would prefer to
continue like that.
However, I wish to obtain the very best lossless transfer and am
prepared to have a separate library for Slimserver use.
I note that Apple's lossless format stores the digital data in a file
about 60% of the size of that on the CD. Surely, this is not true
lossless?
Pat Farrell says that all lossless formats are much the same.
Tommypeters suggests using xACT for ripping. joncourage suggests EAC
and mauidj seems to be in the same situation as me, being an Apple
guy.
Can anyone finally clarify what the best solution for optimum audio
quality is?
Cheers
Ken
