You can easily put Rockbox on your iPod, and play FLAC files (as I do) - www.rockbox.org - sounds great with decent earbuds :) The problem with MP3 over FLAC is that you start off not hearing the compression artefacts, but once you can, it's very irritating. Reripping is so not the plan when HDs are so cheap.
