Yeah it was kinda scary, wasn't it? For me, it was an old 40GB iPod, and an excuse to buy the latest one wouldn't have been a total disaster! CatBus: ripping to MP3 has so many downsides, it's not dogma to prefer FLAC. Even if you can't reliably hear the difference, is this always going to be the case? You might improve your system and then be able to tell. For the (say £50/$100) cost of extra HD space, you may have to spend weeks reripping and retagging. No-brainer.
