Actually, I wasn't meaning to diss the ABX concept - its a useful tool for the right job, and the plugin you describe might be interesting.
My assertion was to do with MP3 vs FLAC... this thread started out discussing what format one should rip in, and I intended to defend the assertion that ripping in FLAC (or any lossless format) is a much better idea than ripping in MP3. We seem to have got diverted into an audiophile-forum navel gaving discussion about ABX vs A/B testing .... as an engineer at heart, I have a strong objection to wasting time/money on unnecessary tests just because some philosophising theorist has pointed out that I haven't logically proved something yet.
