On Linux, I use KAudioCreator or grip, which use the cdparanoia backend.
HOWEVER, there simply is no equivalent to EAC on Linux at the moment,
as far as "perfect rips" are concerned.  Cdparanoia and all apps based
on it (which is basically everything on Linux) are very much subject to
the whims of your CD drive's caching options.

There is a project called Rubyripper
(http://rubyforge.org/projects/rubyripper/) which is an attempt to
re-create EAC on Linux.  I have no idea about its status, but it's a
young project.

I've heard that people have gotten EAC working under Wine, but that
involves some raw-SCSI-kernel-rebuild mojo that I don't have.  It most
certainly doesn't work out-of-the-box.

That said, cdparanoia is fine for most intents and purposes.  But if
you have scratched disks, keep a Windows machine handy.  I'm very sorry
that this is the case.
