To my knowledge, FLAC is not supported on the iPod. I have all of my Slim files ripped as Apple Lossless on my Mac G5. ALAC is the same as FLAC in quality, but not 'open source' (free). When I want to put something on my iPod I open the ALAC files in iTunes and transcode them to 128k AAC, which an iPod will play.
Even though the iPod will play AIFF and WAV files, you wouldn't want them on the iPod due to the size! Same holds true for FLAC or ALAC... they're still really large compared to AAC or MP3. There is talk that FLAC may be natively supported with Apple OS 10.5, but we'll have to wait and see. -- Eric Seaberg Eric Seaberg - San Diego [EMAIL PROTECTED] ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Eric Seaberg's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=7896 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=34049 _______________________________________________ ripping mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/ripping
