I happened to be doing a little reading on Apple Lossless at wikipedia... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apple_Lossless
And came across the following statement... The open source library libavcodec now incorporates a decoder for Apple Lossless format which means that any media player based on that library, including VLC media player and MPlayer, should be able to play Apple Lossless files. However, the SB (I have a version 2 and a version 3) cannot play Apple Lossless - is that correct? Is it possible to modify slimserver.conf in such a way that Apple Lossless could be converted on the fly to something that would play on the squeezebox? I'm thinking something like wav - or, maybe I will go to the trouble to get lame installed on my linux slimserver - and then I could, I guess, transcode to something like mp3/320bps... Any thoughts on this? Too bad, since Apple Lossless has an open source decoder - that this can't be placed in the SB firmware - then one could have 1 lossless format easily tagged and playable by iTunes and SB! -- kkitts ------------------------------------------------------------------------ kkitts's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1993 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=36407 _______________________________________________ ripping mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/ripping
