I use EAC's front end and let it get the CD info from freedb. I've tried both putting Various Artists in the CD Artist option of EAC and have also used the Various Artists option button. The problem with the VA option is that I've seen it do something slightly different on each disc. In any case I can't see any option for "collection" tag...unless hitting the Various Artists button does that. I've used Tag & Rename in the past to clean up tags. This is an option, but I obviously prefer to get it as correct as possible during the initial rip...especially during the rip marathon.
