This looks interesting. I have a couple hundred discs I've recorded off-air of various programs. However, if I understand Sony's documentation, they can only import PCM, HiSP and HiLP discs. Unfortunately all but a couple of my discs are recorded in SP mode. I didn't have a HiMD deck until the Onkyo MD133 came out.
So far, the only faster-than-real-time solution I've seen is the EDL system, which uses a modified Sony data drive. The disadvantage is that it does the ATRAC decoding on the PC; I don't know what generation of ATRAC decoder they use. Might be an early one. The solution I may end up using eventually is recording the digital output of the minidisc deck to large WAV files under linux. To get the track marks transfered I might be able to use the MD Editor2 program, which will write a CSV file with the track info, a small "shim" program which I would write to turn this into a "CUE" file and the "split" function of EAC to split the one big WAV file into separate track WAV files. Sounds like a lot of work! Damn you Sony for making this so hard... You got what you deserve. MD has essentially died a long and slow death. While once Sony was king of the hill with the Walkman, now Apple has the portable music market tied up with their iPod. -- Timothy Stockman ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Timothy Stockman's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=8867 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=35351 _______________________________________________ ripping mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/ripping
