About 6 months ago I bought my first Sqeezebox, encoded all my CDs using Apple Lossless as an iPod/iTunes user, and everything worked fine until I decided to set up a dedicated media server. Linux is, imho, the best solution for this. Ubuntu is really easy to install and use - and it is free.
Slimserver was easy enough to get going in Ubuntu. My MP3's played fine but any Apple format files remained silent. After wasting the best part of day reading as many threads, trying mplayer and faad2 and what-have-you I gave up. FLAC works perfectly so the excellent dbpoweramp is now converting all my Apple lossless files into FLAC files. Useful as iTunes is, if I was starting again I would use FLAC from the beginning. -- dBerriff ------------------------------------------------------------------------ dBerriff's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=12247 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=36407 _______________________________________________ ripping mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/ripping
