In fact I KNOW all of what you're saying and I don't doubt the
encoding-decoding process will MAGICALLY give me back my beloved waves
EXACTLY identical. I have my reasons on which I wont elaborate. I also
have a LOT of disc-space & money. My entire flac-collection
(compression-ratio 5) amounts to just a little less than 300 GB so it's
not insanely large. 
But right is right and the point should be made for others not to waste
disc-space. If you choose to bypass vaw, EAC will of course rip directly
to flac ready for mp3tag. A 2 step process.
