Ok, I seriously looked at the CSG. It is a nice attempt but only makes partly sense to me. Party because of reasons I stated in my inital post: for me the ARTIST is(are) the performer(s) not the composer, most adamantly for solo compositions (piano/cello/violoncello). Transcriptions (covers) are not really a problem, because the piano player still is the artist of, lets say "Pictures at an Exhibition" composed by "Mussorgsky/Ravel" and it would run under the GENRE of "Piano Transcriptions".
I see a problem in the language related guidelines (CSG). Why select as artist the composer and switch to "release language" when talking about keys, movements etc? Does the composer change names as well depending on the release language (Shostakovich, Schostakowitsch, Sjostakovitsj)? That would not help browsing for a specific piece. -- th00ht SqueezeBox (f/w81), SqueezeCenter (7.0-17707) Quad 303 + Two Quad Electrostats ------------------------------------------------------------------------ th00ht's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=15656 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=43851 _______________________________________________ ripping mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/ripping
