Good question.  It does sound like bad advice.  SqueezeCenter will see
the APE tag and then use it over any id3 tags that may be in the file. 
If the APE tag is missing things like artist, album, title, etc. then
they'll be missing in SqueezeCenter.  Generally, you don't want both
APE and id3 tags in an Mp3 for use with SqueezeCenter.  If you really
know what you're doing you _could_ keep all the metadata in the APE
tag, but then you'd have to use free-form field names of the sort used
within Flac and Monkey's Audio files.
