There are several ways to handle it. I think it depends on if you look at your Music as CDs or if you have made the jump to its all music by specific artists or specific songs. Note: I rip with dBpowerAmp Reference. I have the disc number tag disabled. If it is a single disc, I think I know that (as all CDs are at least disc 1) and itÂ’s obvious. All my multi-disc CDs are turned into one album so I have no need for this label or tag. I look at multi-disc as just one long album. And the only difference is if it is a Box set by an artist say Johnny Cash 4 CD set or Super Hits of the 70's 4 disk set. For JC, I change the track numbers as I rip disc 2 through 4 as well as set the disc number to 1/1 for all discs. So the music is stored under Johnny Cash, the album Black, tracks 1 to 122. I have only one album show up in SC or on the SBC, not four times with Disc 1 to 4. For Super 70's I do the same thing except I check compilation so that it puts the album under Various Artists. If I want to play the thing straight through I look it up under Various Artists, but all the artists are still listed separately under their names in SC and on the SBC if I just want a specific song or artist. Just my thoughts as I no longer think of my music library as CDs or more importantly not specific CDs making up a box set, but as albums of songs by specific artists. This also frees me from having a separate music management software.
