- Nobody has mentioned C2 error info. dBpoweramp can use that to verify single pass rips IF your drive provides C2 info AND it is accurate. So even when a CD isn't listed in the AccurateRip database, dBpoweramp can give you very fast secure one pass rips.
- OP, You mentioned a laptop and a Plextor drive. Just what are you using and how is it connected? - If you have treated your CDs with care, 90-95% of your Cds should be ripped securely without extra re-reads. (1 pass based on accurate rip or C2 info. 2 passes if neither is available.) And most of your CDs probably don't have long tracks. A suggestion: before you rip a Cd, visually inspect it. If it has scratches or spots that you can't blow away, set it aside for a problem CD session. If it has really long tracks, set it aside. The CDs that pass these filters should rip quickly and easily. Tackle the problem CDs when you are prepared for tedious work. - I've ripped CDs successfully with dBpoweramp on a laptop running CP with only 512 MB of RAM (and some was used for display adapter memory). No 78 minute tracks but plenty of 15-20 minute tracks. - I've done comparisons of the ripped audio streams from EAC (secure mode T&C) and those from the J.River Media Center Media Center 12 secure ripper. I found NO difference on any CD MC ripped with confidence. If MC didn't rip a Cd with confidence, EAC didn't either. Taking care of your CDs is far more important than your choice of secure ripped in getting accurate rips.
