Thanks for the replies chaps, I thought I would try the advice and move all the Floyd out and back.
I put the albums back one by one and all was well till the last one which then made the Artist missing again from the list. It was one album causing the problem, a flac, I dropped it into "notepad" and looked at the headers. there appeared to be a lot of Musicbrainz headed bits and pieces with "albumsort" etc. Not really being particularly knowledgable on this I just dropped the files into audacity and converted to wav and back, this cleared off all the tagswhich I re-did again manually with mp3tag. All is now fine. Just curious though, anybody know what, within the musicbrainz tags, would cause it.
