'TCMP' is far more common and far more supported for mp3s than 'TXXX COMPILATION' which is why i would go that route for my mp3s. i never use itunes, in fact i hate itunes, but that doesn't change the validity of the rationale, TCMP is the better one to use in most common use cases.
