one of my beefs with SBS is that it insists on using "one master list"
at any given time. want to make changes to how the list displays? its
confusing and worse, can require a rescan.

i should be able to see all artists only, or all albumartists only, or
both together, quickly changing views, without needing to delve into
options or rescans. i should be able to toggle on and off artwork from
anywhere. i should be able to arrange a view in whatever order i
want... home > artists, home > album, home > genre, etc... are all
ridiculous. you shouldn't need to go "into" any of them, you should
just need to go into "my music" and then using dropdowns or some similar
method decide the way your collection is displayed.

i should not need 3rd party plugins for any of this, and i haven't used
erlands plugins precisely because he might decide to not support them,
which is now currently the case. i don't want to grow to depend on
something that isn't core for just this reason.

i suspect the OP and i organize music similarly. we use artist to be
as close to who is playing on the track as possible for ANY type of cd,
and we use albumartist as more of a sorting tag than anything else. i
haven't felt the need to add comp tags yet, but i might eventually, i
just don't see a need for SBS to know something is a comp yet.

i get by just using albumartist for my common usage, but it should not
be anything more than a simple toggle in the browsing UI to switch from
AA to simply all artists for example, or both together for that matter.
(similar to the webui way of picking "artist, year, album" for example)

btw OP, if you use the string "Various Artists" for TPE1 or TPE2 be
aware of this bug:
