if you've not yet completed tagging your library you could try automating the process using puddletag. Load all folders/ files into puddletag, sort all tracks into track order and then folder order. Select all files, open masstagging dialogue and select FreeDB as the tag source. This should go some way to recognising and tagging most of your albums. You can then (or in the same operation) use Musicbrainz as a tag source to improve the metadata. puddletag will show you all proposed changes and you can approve/ reject at a field or track level before committing changes.
