hey,

so i don't use it yet b/c i don't do linux, but i hope you don't mind
some comments anyway, (let me know if i shouldn't!)

first, i hold out hope for a windows version, that doesn't require a
huge DL of something just to run the separate app. is this unlikely?

second, i would hope you would let the utf coding and id3 versions of
tags be configurable. i use v2.3 purposely, i dont want v2.4, and i
don't know what coding is best for windows but i'd want that too.

one thing none of these tagging apps have, that i think would really
make sense, is some processing utilities. for instance, a RG utility,
a soundcheck one, and the WMP version too. i would add all these tags
b/c i want my files to work well on any app.

some kind of audio fingerprinting would be cool too, but i am def out
of m depth here... musicip, musicbrainz, md5, etc... i don't know
what is best or if any should be used, i wouldn't want SBS for instance
to use such tags to trump my "normal" tags.

also, i am interested in using "specific functions" to solve specific
problems.

for instance, how about a function where albums are scanned to see if
all the tracks have the right year for the songs original release, as
opposed to the CDs release year? this would be great for CD reissues
or comps made up of different artists. tagging the song with the year
it came out using the universal frame is really the only way the play a
specific year function in various apps is useful. meanwhile, the actual
release date for the CD could be optionally appended to whatever is in
the comment field, something like: (cd1998)

another function would allow you to specify the only acceptable genre
names and give you a result list of non-compliant ones.

anyway, just throwing out some ideas, you've obviously gone really far
with this!
