The 64GB model is a new, so that does make it a bit more practical than
the 16GB and 32GB models that they've had until recently.

Definitely check out whether the external control interface (i.e. the
car stereo) will control the app though, as you're not going to want to
have to root through the glovebox to change tracks on FLAC player
application if it doesn't hook into the iPod controls.

Bear in mind that Apple don't like developers using their proprietary
functionality (so cover flow isn't allowed in apps for instance) so it
may well be that an app isn't allowed to take over what would normally
be the iPod internal player control user interfaces.

If it works then great, but it may be easier to run Apple Lossless as
your source format if you're adamant that you don't want duplicate data
and at least that way your iPod will definitely work as advertised with
whatever third-party system you hook it up to.
