I not realy use a squeezebox for that. I have a pc with ubuntu and the newest squeezeplay. I go directly out via HDMI to my Denon Receiver 3808.
Normal files and files that I download for a test (24bit 192 KHz) plays fine. But all of this are only 2 Channel. If I use spdifconvert for my music DVD I get 5 channel output and I am also happy.
