Thank you for your advice. I realize there is not one universal way to organize a music collection. There are many ways to skin a cat. In a way, I would like to keep it simple, to not use more tags than absolutely necessary. Maybe to use abbreviations that would fit nicely on the display of my Touch, without too much scrolling. But on the other hand, there´s the flexibility of proper tagging for future use. Isn´t it very likely that future software will be more comprehensive and user-friendly? Maybe one day I will be happy that I included WORK tags. And maybe I will feel sorry that I put the name of the composer in the ARTIST tag - or is it possible to fix all of this later on without having to manually re-tag everything...
