No...I inadvertently left out the part that the RCA's are coming out of the "tape" output from my amp. After doing about 30 of them, now, I agree with both Tony T and TheLastMan. Part of the fun of the process is listening to the records as they're being ripped. This not only provides some enjoyment, but also a way to evaluate the rips against the original and, as well, to quickly discard the albums that are just too wrecked to reproduce well. The convenience of having the records on SBS, not having to jump up and change sides every 20-30 min, easy search, etc. is totally worth doing it. I've found the quality of the rips to flac to be better than I would've expected with little difference from the original. Sometimes, the Touch/Rega dac combo has even seemed to me to improve things a bit from the original. BTW, TheLastMan, when I'm done with all the post processing and go to actually store the corrected, tagged, files, it stores them directly and only as .flac files. As far as I can tell by looking at the saved files in the directory, there aren't two sets of files (wav and flac) for each rip. I suspect that the initial rip is wav until you decide to save the file as flac and then there is 100% conversion w/out any duplication unless you tell it to..... Finally, I am actually quite happy to take whatever small degredation (though I've not been able to discern that, yet) may occur with the de-clicking (which I'm using at its lowest setting) in return for the much cleaner sounding playback.
