Question for Rick and Tony: Does the software you use have a filter that only de-clicks quiet passages? I would say for 90% of my records noise is only noticeable on very quiet passages or between tracks - and only when monitored on headphones too. It is very rare that I find noise a nuisance through my amp and speakers, but it might be nice to have on the MP3s which I play on my iPod.
What I would like to do is apply a filter only to quiet passages and after the initial conversion to FLAC when converting FLAC to MP3. SpinItAgain applies noise filters only when splitting the WAV recording to separate WAV tracks. So I would have to repeat the whole track splitting and tagging process if I wanted a version with filter applied as wella s one without. A bit of pain to put it mildly. Rick, thanks for clarifying the point re the library only holding FLACs. Makes sense. If Vinyl Studio can do the filtering post conversion to FLAC then I would be highly tempted to switch over to it. -- TheLastMan Matt http://www.last.fm/user/MJL-UK *SqueezeBoxes:* SB Duet (Controller + two receivers) *Server:* Synology DS107+ NAS (with firmware 2.3-1157) running Squeezebox Server 7.5.3 on Synology Package Manager *Network:* Netgear DG834GT ADSL modem/router, 2 x Buffalo WHR-HP-G54 as access points *Livingroom:* Receiver into Naim 42/110 amp, B&W CM2 speakers *Kitchen:* Receiver into Denon DM37 mini-system, B&W 686 speakers *Study:* Linn LP12, Naim 72/Hi-cap/Headline. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ TheLastMan's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=16021 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=87289 _______________________________________________ ripping mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/ripping
