I believe the goal with acoustid at the moment only is fingerprinting
and not similarity analysis. See here for more information:

However, we can use acoustid to automatically match your local music
with musicbrainz, there are several services out there using
musicbrainz which will make it possible take music discovery to the
next level. So let's focus on helping Lukas making the fingerprint and
matching algorithms as good as possible by running the fingerprint tool
on our libraries.
