Also, splitting the one single FLAC file doesn't lose any data.

I think the claim is that you lose a little: the ability to re-create the original raw CD image, with pre-gap info. Of course, that's not a disaster...

advantage is that I have all the files individually named and tagged,
when I look at an album I see it as I would had I just ripped it myself.

Funny; I look in the cue file for that, and see it all there, and I find that easier.

I've no idea how you would use a single FLAC/CUE file in conjunction
with random play if you wanted each track to appear in the initial
playlist - can it be done?

I'm far from an LMS expert, but I see no difference at all, within LMS, between albums I've ripped since flac+cue, and those in individual MP3 files. Everything I can do with the latter I can do with the former.

i.e. LMS hides what you might call the "storage implementation", and presents you with artists/albums/tracks.

Not that I'm going to change - it works
perfectly how I do it :)

Yes, of course!

And clearly, it doesn't work quite correctly the way I'm doing it :)

Mind you, there are loads of threads on here relating to functionality
of the Touch that I'll never, ever use - people seem to want bells and
whistles in every aspect, whereas I just want to play my playlists via
my main Hi-Fi - horses for courses!

yes indeed :)
